Clinical Elective Program for Foreign Medical Students

FRONTLINE HOSPITAL welcomes foreign medical students and international healthcare learners to participate in our Clinical Elective Programme—a structured observational and academic clinical exposure designed to enhance medical knowledge, practical understanding, and global healthcare experience.

 

This program offers participants an opportunity to learn within a dynamic tertiary healthcare environment while gaining exposure to patient care practices, multidisciplinary teamwork, and healthcare delivery in Nepal.

 

1.     General Requirements

 

a)     Application Submission

Applicants interested in undertaking a Clinical Elective Program at FRONTLINE HOSPITAL are required to submit a completed application along with supporting documents.

Required Documents

Applicants must provide:

  • Completed Elective Application Form
  • Copy of Passport
  • Recent Passport-size Photographs
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) / Resume
  • Letter of Intent / Statement of Purpose
    (including preferred department and expected learning objectives)
  • Recommendation Letter from Medical School / University
    (signed by Dean, Vice Dean, Program Coordinator, or equivalent authority)
  • Proof of Current Enrollment Student Certificate
  • Medical Insurance (if applicable)

 

 

 

2. Program Eligibility

The Clinical Elective Program is open to:

  • International Medical Students enrolled in recognized institutions
  • Final-year medical students and clinical-year students
  • International healthcare learners
  • Students with good academic standing and institutional recommendation

Applicants may select from available departments based on placement capacity and approval.

4. Duration of Elective Program

  • Minimum Duration: 2 Weeks
  • Recommended Duration: 2–8 Weeks
  • Extended placements may be considered upon request and approval.

Applicants intending to rotate across multiple departments should clearly mention preferences and duration in the application.

 

5. Program Structure & Learning Experience

During the elective placement, participants will receive observational and educational exposure through:

  • Clinical ward rounds with consultants and specialists
  • Outpatient Department (OPD) observation
  • Emergency Department exposure
  • Academic discussions and departmental meetings
  • Case-based learning opportunities
  • Exposure to healthcare delivery systems in Nepal
  • Observation of multidisciplinary patient management

Students will gain insight into both common and complex medical conditions while understanding clinical practices within a developing healthcare setting.

Note: This program is observational and educational in nature. Clinical participation will follow hospital policies and supervision guidelines.

 

6. Working Schedule

Participants are generally expected to attend:

  • Working Days: Sunday – Friday
  • Daily Duration: Minimum 8 hours per day
  • Schedule may vary by department.

 

7. Program Fee

Program fees depend on:

  • Duration of placement
  • Selected department

8. Certification

Participants who successfully complete the program will receive an Official Certificate of Clinical Elective Completion issued by FRONTLINE HOSPITAL.
